Russia will not introduce any "draconian"...
Sochi, a sub-tropical resort on the Black Sea coast, is located close to Russia"s volatile North Caucasus, the area of Russia that the recent suicide bombers who struck the Moscow metro hailed from.
"There will be no Draconian measures," Dmitry Kozak said. "We will introduce the same security measures as [other states] did during previous Olympic Games."
Following the brief 2008 conflict with Russia, the Georgian National Olympic sent a letter to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) asking for the games to be moved from Sochi, located several dozens of km from the border of the former Georgian republic of Abkhazia, for security reasons. The IOC replied that security issues were a purely domestic matter for the host country.
